Advertising Policy

Our standards for advertising and sponsored content

Last updated: 24 February 2026

Overview

Editorial independence first

The Irish Bugle maintains strict separation between editorial content and advertising. This policy outlines our standards for commercial partnerships, sponsored content, and advertising placements to ensure transparency and maintain reader trust.

Editorial Independence

Protecting our journalism

Advertisers have no influence over our editorial coverage, story selection, or reporting. The newsroom operates independently from commercial operations.

Core Principles:

  • • Editorial decisions are made by journalists, not advertisers
  • • No "pay-to-play" arrangements for coverage
  • • Advertisers cannot review or veto stories before publication
  • • We may report critically on our advertisers if newsworthy
  • • Commercial partnerships do not guarantee positive coverage

Transparency & Disclosure

Clear labeling of commercial content

All Paid Content Must Be:

  • • Clearly labeled as "Sponsored," "Advertisement," or "Paid Content"
  • • Visually distinguished from editorial content
  • • Identified before the user engages with the content
  • • Marked in a way that is unambiguous and easy to understand

Sponsored Content Standards:

  • • Must meet our editorial quality standards
  • • Cannot be misleading or deceptive
  • • Must comply with advertising regulations and consumer protection laws
  • • Subject to our review and approval before publication
  • • We reserve the right to reject or remove content that doesn't meet standards

Reporting problematic advertising

If you believe an advertisement on our site violates this policy or is misleading, please report it to us immediately.

Enforcement Actions:
